The Labour Court dismissed Brian Murphy’s appeal over a Covid recognition payment, upholding the first-instance decision. The decision was dated 25 June 2024. Murphy argued the National Ambulance Service should pay him because it distributed the payment to agencies. The Service said he was employed and paid by an agency, which was responsible for any payment due. The Court found his employment contract was with the agency and that he had named the wrong respondent for his Payment of Wages Act complaint. The determination also said the complaint was statute barred. The appeal was not allowed, and the adjudicator’s decision was upheld.
