The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal over a voluntary severance package for two long-serving Connaught & Court Ltd workers. The decision was signed on 2 June 2000. The union argued the workers remained employed when the package was offered and should qualify. The company said long-term absentees had been excluded from the programme. The Court found no reason to change the Rights Commissioner’s recommendation that the package was not available to the workers.
