The Labour Court upheld a recommendation that a cleaning operative should not return to her original work location after she did not attend the appeal hearing. The decision was signed on 1 August 2000. The Court said the appeal had not been moved because no cause was submitted for her absence; the merits were not decided. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had appealed on the worker’s behalf after the Rights Commissioner found that Noonan Cleaning Limited had acted fairly and reasonably. The union sought her return to her original location.
