The Labour Court disallowed the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s appeal and affirmed a recommendation that Mc Kechnies Limited pay a worker £350 if he accepted an alternative job. The decision was dated 29 September 2000. The worker had been a van driver. The company had closed two operations and lost a contract, and the Court agreed with the Rights Commissioner that the alternative work was suitable in the circumstances.
