The Workplace Relations Commission recommended €200 compensation and an apology for a worker who resigned after a dispute over missing till money. Adjudication Officer Niamh O’Carroll dated the recommendation 25 July 2023. The worker said she felt suspected after staff were asked about the missing money and resigned because of the atmosphere. The employer said it was investigating a till discrepancy, not accusing anyone. The adjudicator found shortcomings on both sides: the worker could have allowed more time to resolve the issue, while the employer could have handled it more tactfully. The WRC recommended that the employer write to say she had not been accused of taking the money and pay €200 for the distress caused.
