The Workplace Relations Commission found Andrew Ellul’s minimum-notice and unfair-dismissal complaints against Citi Bus Limited & Dublin Coach unsuccessful in a decision dated 15 June 2023. Ellul challenged the calculation of annual leave and notice pay in his redundancy payment and also alleged unfair dismissal. He said he was laid off during the Covid-19 disruption before later seeking redundancy. The company said he had applied for and accepted voluntary redundancy and was not entitled to minimum-notice pay. The adjudicator noted that annual leave and a public holiday had been included in the calculations and said no additional payment appeared due. The unfair-dismissal complaint failed because Ellul had applied for and accepted voluntary redundancy. The decision also noted that he found another full-time accountancy job shortly after leaving.
