The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) rejected Lanxin Zhao’s complaints about working hours, equal pay and unpaid wages in a decision dated 30 May 2024. The adjudication officer found the working time records showed she did not exceed the 48-hour weekly limit, and that she had not established a prima facie case of discrimination. Zhao said she faced excessive overtime, was paid less than comparators on gender and race grounds, and was owed wages, overtime or a bonus. Waystone Management Company Limited relied on working time records and her contract, which provided no overtime entitlement; it also disputed the suitability of her comparators. The officer found the agreed salary was paid, no deductions were made and no bonus was due.
