The Labour Court did not allow Brian Murphy’s appeal over a Covid recognition payment he sought from the National Ambulance Service. Its decision is dated 25 June 2024. Murphy worked in the Service’s control room through an employment agency and sought a payment made to the Service’s own staff. The Service said the agency employed and paid him and was responsible for any applicable payment. The Court found that he had named the wrong respondent under the Protection of Employees (Temporary Agency Work) Act 2012. The decision’s operative section also says the complaint was statute barred and not well founded. The Court upheld the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
